Amusing Challenges – Birthday Celebrations

This week’s theme and monthly prize

Amuse Studio is celebrating it’s 5th birthday and so I thought we’d follow suit and celebrate birthdays here at Amusing Challenge.    Question – about how many birthday cards do you usually make in a year?!?

Throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  Based on reader input late last year, I will be changing up the way I award my monthly prize!  We’ll still have the Top 3 winners but now every participant that plays along will earn a chance to win the random drawing for my prize package at the end of the month.   February’s prize winner will be announced on Monday and the winner will receive this retired Amuse Studio egg die.  It measures 1.2575” x 1.5922” and is perfect for card making and scrapbooking.

Cyndi has a cheerful and springy Birthday card for us this week.  I love how she double stamped the sentiment…what a  great look!  Another fun detail Cyndi added was to use Crystal Glaze on the colorful balloons…you should see this in real life to really appreciate it.

I had a tough time photographing (and perhaps even stamping!) this one layer, CAS birthday card using Amuse Studio’s new stamp set called, OMG Cake.  It’s just one of the fun new birthday themed stamp sets in their March Collection.  The pinks (both the cardstock strip and ink is Grapefruit and matches perfectly in real life) don’t look the same but they are!  This card is super quick to make and I think if I had not been so rushed, I would’ve have the images lined up better – or perhaps I need to admit defeat and use a stamp positioner.  I recently had a similar problem lining up some of these images here but was able to fix it beautifully.

A fun rubber stamping technique is masking.  For this card I stamped the cow image from Go Hog Wild – another exciting new stamp set from Amuse Studio’s March Collection.  I stamped two cows side by side and then masked the first row and repeatedly stamped and masked…it takes a moment to envision what you are trying to build scene wise but you should give it a try if you haven’t.  The card is also very CAS but it gets a pop from the embossed Happy Birthday sentiment.  This card makes me smile!!  By the way, this cow image is adorable all by itself too!
