Amusing Challenge – Shades of Green

This week’s theme and monthly prize

With St Patrick’s Day coming up this week, I guess it makes sense to have a shades of green theme here Amusing Challenge.  Please note it does not have to be a St Patrick’s Day theme…just focus on the green!

Throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  Based on reader input late last year, I will be changing up the way I award my monthly prize!  We’ll still have the Top 3 winners but now every participant that plays along will earn a chance to win the random drawing for my prize package at the end of the month.   This month’s prize is an assortment of Amuse Studio’s “Not Your Grandma’s” buttons!

Cyndi just picked up her new Gnome Other stamp set from me this week and got right to work on it.  I love her green themed card and this little guy is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day!  I hadn’t even thought of it.  Cyndi used Peerless Watercolor paints to color in her images – in case you didn’t know, Amuse Studio carries these.

I have to admit when I first saw Amuse Studio’s new stamp set called, OMG Cake, I was fixated by the glass dome, or “cloche”, as they are called.  This is just one of the fun new birthday themed stamp sets in amuse studio’s March Collection and the cake images and sentiments are wonderful.  I couldn’t wait (after I stamped a suitable number of cake cards) to try masking a small garden scene on the inside of the cloche.  I used the cactus plants from the Grow stamp set in amuse studio’s February Collection – it’s not perfect but I’m going to try playing with it some more.  In case you are not familiar with these, here is the definition.

 1.  a small translucent cover for protecting or forcing outdoor plants.

This next card came to me in the middle of the night while I was racking my brain on how to make an all green card without using St Patrick’s Day stamps.  I guess my bag of scraps still sitting out was in my thoughts and I awoke clearly knowing what to do!  I always save these long, narrow strips of cardstock that are inevitably left over when you are trimming…do you save them too?   I love using these narrow strips, but in this card from a few weeks ago, I lined them up vertically.

  1. I thought this challenge was open until midnight tonight, but it says it’s already closed. Is it possible to still submit an entry?
