Amusing Challenge – Ocean/Beach

This week’s theme and monthly prize

Every summer we try and make a trip (or two) down to the beach. We usually head out to Ocean City and normally just stay for the day – it’s a long drive though at 3 hours each way. So, I love it when we can stay longer! We haven’t made the trip yet and I hope summer doesn’t pass us by before it’s too late. Beca  This week’s  Amusing Challenge will be an ocean/beach theme, so get creative!

Throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  Based on reader input late last year, I will be changing up the way I award my monthly prize!  We’ll still have the Top 3 winners but now every participant that plays along (and LINKS BACK to the challenge) will earn a chance to win the random drawing for my prize package at the end of the month.  A random winner this month will win this retired Amuse Studio stamp set which is perfect for summertime…Sunshine and Shade.

Cyndi really did an amazing job showcasing the retiring Amuse Studio stamp set, You’re a Lifesaver.  I got this stamp a few years after it came out and regret not using it more – especially when I see this beachy scene Cyndi created.  Don’t you just love that beach? She brushed on the blue ink to create the sky and then embossed the “sand”.  It’s a great look!  Along with the nautical images – there are some fun puns in this set.  This set was supposed to be available through July 17 (the new catalog goes LIVE on the 18th) but it looks like it’s already sold out!

I can be a real copy-cat although in the stamping world we call that “CASE” – Copy and Steal Everything!  Here I was inspired by the great samples in the Amuse Studio July Collection.  When I saw the brochure, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this new stamp set, Seashells Remind Us.  The shells are perfect for watercoloring and for these two cards I used Peerless Watercolor paints (lighter card/left) and our Splash colors that come in amuse studio colors (bolder card/right).  I used Bristol watercolor paper for these cards and the size is larger than 8 1/2 x 11 so when I trimmed it down – I had the perfect little strip leftover for my sentiment.  These sentiments are from A Muse Studio’s Birthdays Inside and Out.  You can click on these pics to enlarge.

You can tell I really like the new Seashells Remind Us stamp set from Amuse Studio’s July Collection because here I used it again. They are 3 realistic shells with some lovely sentiments. This font has been around forever but I love it for classic and “serious” cards.  Sadly, there are times when we need these sympathy sentiments.  I hand doodled the lines so it’s a one layer card which makes it nice for mailing.

I hope you join us!

  1. The Ocean Beach creations remind me of the wonderful times I had growing up on E coast of FL. Miss the beach but we have a pool here in Central TX. Not been to the TX coast but it is on my bucket list. I made a Pool theme card posted today but your theme is Ocean Beach. Have a Bee-utiful day!
