Have you seen the newest cardmaking trend? They are called slimline cards and measure 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. I commented to a friend that when I was first with The Angel Company we made these…I’m thinking about 14 years ago, at least! I said I wasn’t going to jump on the “bandwagon” but yesterday as I was looking at some of my longer paper scraps, well, I couldn’t resist!
About My Card
I’ve been working on my Summer Vibes card kit (I have my Zoom class today at 1 pm EST so thank you to everyone who purchased a kit!) and had a nice long strip of the patterned paper laying out. In preparation for the class and making lots of summery cards, I bought some colored cardstock from Close To My Heart. Did you know that you can build your own custom color packs? You can and the two options are 12 and 24 sheets. I love this!
I decided Lemonade would make a nice base that I could build on. Then I used Glacier cardstock to mat the Summer Vibes patterned paper. “You Are” is from the new CTMH stamp set called Always Loved. It has some great sentiments … including: “the glitter to my glue”. Perfect for us crafters!! It’s also a bit large so I thought it would be perfect on this slimline card dimension. After I chose the “sunshine” sentiment I looked through my stash of retired stamp sets to find a good sun shape. This is from CTMH’s Central Park Scrapbooking Seasons & Nature set. Next I added a little blue accent piece to cover a black smudge – oops! And, although they don’t really fit the sentiment, I added some watermelon slices. These are from the Summer Vibes cardmaking kit. I used Copic markers to quickly color them. This time I did not add Liquid Glass like I did here but they still look so pretty!
So, what do you think? Have you tried a slimline card yet? I’m not sure how many I will make … stay tuned!
