It was my Dad’s 90th birthday on Friday!! I suppose now in hindsight I should have made a big, flashy 9-0 card but Close To My Heart’s Feathered Friends stamp came to mind right away. My dad goes out every day to fill up at least 5 bird feeders around the house. They live in upper Wisconsin and it’s bitter cold, so the birds really rely on them. I knew he’d appreciate this card!
More About My Card
I debated using a light blue cardstock but, in the end, I sponged on Distress Oxide ink for the sky. It looks so realistic, even the little splot of green mixed in — which must have been on the sponge or craft mat. Oops! I purchased Feathered Friends with the matching thin cut die set. TIP: I found for the branch that it was best to die cut first, then layout the stamp over the die cut and lastly, tap down with your acrylic block to pick it up in the perfect position. I also stamped CTMH’s new Barn Door stamp set on Toffee cardstock using Espresso ink. I also sponged a little darker ink on randomly. I chose to purchase this set without the matching thin cut dies, but they are available! I did overlap the boards slightly and placed them unevenly to look like a weathered fence…that was on purpose, ha ha!
My card is a springboard from one of the sample cards in CTMH’s new Jan/Feb catalog. If you haven’t checked it out — I LOVE this catalog!
