Creating a birthday card for my husband always is a bit difficult. I hate reusing the same birthday sets I use all the time and, he always picks out really funny, interactive cards for me at the store. I know it’s not a competition, but I want to make him smile too! So, this year I got creative and pulled out some of my first stamp sets from The Angel Company, Birthday Funnies (a retired Close To My Heart hostess stamp -the sentiments are hilarious!) and, I added some bits from CTMH’s Party Gnome set for good measure!
This card design has been on my mind for a few days! I kept getting “nudges” to try it out via social media. First, I spotted a lovely card on Pinterest using this design with flowers and butterflies (I’m going to go back and try that next!). Then, Laura Beacham, a very talented CTMH Maker from Australia posted a card using the Party Gnomes and this stenciled design. On top of that, she created and shared a Cricut cutting file to cut out this stenciling template!! You can find Laura here on Facebook. I will admit that I had several false starts, including ink everywhere — on the front and back of the card. I learned to really mask off the sides and tape it down good. Also, if you reuse the stencil, watch out for the colors left behind on your mask…you may get a mixture or muddle of colors…just saying!!
All the Gnome stamp sets are on sale right now for CTMH’s Stamptacular Sale! There are some great deals going on right now — including stamps with matching thin cut dies.
